Calluna Flower Farm
Calluna Flower Farm is a small urban flower farm specializing in unique varieties of flowers for arrangements and bouquets. We use natural and organic growing methods to maintain our gardens and to ensure the sustainability of our small production. Our flowers are grown seasonally so that each season brings different amazing flowers harvested at their peak of freshness. We sell from our location, offer a CSA membership, and host a booth at the Ogden Farmers Market. This is our third year selling to the public and I absolutely love to see flowers creating smiles and brightening someone's day with a beautiful bouquet.
For my farm growing flowers is more than a business; its a lot of hard work and planning, but also reconnecting my lifestyle to the cycles of our environment. I plan and develop the farm with business aspects in mind but I also consider how each new development will contribute to our miniature ecosystem. For example we create our own compost with all our organic waste, conserve water, use insects and animals for balancing pest and disease populations. I also strive to provide food and shelter for beneficial insects and pollinators, create as little plastic waste as possible, and re purposed and recycle materials. Every decision I make is based on trying to improve the biodiversity and health of the habitat I live in. I find a peace in knowing that I am improving the health of the little piece of earth I have taken responsibility for.

My name is Heather and I am the owner of Calluna Flower Farm. I have been an avid gardener and nature lover my whole life. Other than growing flowers I spend my time with my Husband and two boys playing outside, cooking, traveling, watching movies together and reading. My love of growing comes from my Grandfather who let me spend time with him in his garden. My favorite thing to do was stay up late with him on summer nights and hunt for worms in the yard with a flashlight. I studied Health promotion in college and began turning my gardening hobby into something that touched my community. I built and ran a school garden 3 years, built my first greenhouse, and then read an article about flower farming. I signed up for a farmers market and jumped in with both feet and no clue what would happen. After my first summer at the market I knew I had found my path and my place. I grow flowers specifically to be a part of the Farmers Market. Its an amazing experience to watch faces light up with happiness, meeting other gardeners and growers who are doing amazing and creative work. I love to hear the stories about the family and friends who will be receiving our flowers, I love hearing the stories and memories that flowers rekindle for people. The market is my favorite place because it refills my heart each week with love. I feel so grateful to be able to bring flowers, love, gifts, friendship, and memories to my community.
