About
Overview: The Utah Cut Flower Farm Association supports grant programs for grower-members. This initiative furthers our mission to promote local and sustainable floriculture in Utah.
Funding: Grants are awarded once per year in December to applicants with innovative ideas that will strengthen Utah’s floriculture industry.
Up to $600 may be requested per applicant
Up to $800 may be requested for collaborative proposals between two or more farms
Eligible applicants:
Certified Growers
Associate Members
Farmer Florists
(must be members in good standing)
Funded projects must be completed within 12 months of the award date.
For example, projects funded in December 2024 may run between January and December 2025.
WHAT WE WILL FUND
We are interested in research-based, innovative ideas that improve both your farm and the broader floriculture community in Utah.
Examples include:
Implementing new tools or systems that streamline or scale farm operations
Trialing new production systems (season extension, greenhouse methods, etc.)
Testing new flower varieties with evidence of potential for Utah conditions
Exploring collaborative models that mutually benefit multiple farms
WHAT WE WILL NOT FUND
Routine farm expenses that do not advance innovation or industry development
Standard seed costs
Non-evidence-based approaches
Projects conducted outside of Utah
Personal salary
APPLICATION TIMELINE
There is one application cycle per year.
Applications open: November 15
Applications close: December 1 at 11:59 PM
Award notifications sent by: December 20
HOW TO APPLY
All applications must be submitted through the official online UCFFA Grant Application Form. (Link below)
Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
Applications are reviewed confidentially by the UCFFA Research Committee — a five-person panel of cut flower farmers and scientists. A points-based evaluation system is used to score proposals.
Applicants may not serve on the grant review committee during the year they apply. Previous award recipients are encouraged to serve.
RECIPIENT EXPECTATIONS
Grant recipients agree to:
Submit a 1–2 paragraph written summary outlining findings and key takeaways
Present project results in a UCFFA Blooming at Noon Zoom within 6 months of project completion
Applicants may only hold one UCFFA grant at a time. Members must complete all reporting requirements before applying for additional funding.
