  • Blooming Soon in Utah 🪻

Between the time change to daylight savings, the abundance of warmer than usual weather and the upcoming equinox, I think it is safe to wish you all a happy spring!Ā  While I am enjoying the warm weather, I am secretly (ok, not so secretly) pining for quite a few more snowstorms.Ā  The kind with big, fluffy flakes that cover everything in a magical blanket that seems to suspend time itself.Ā  The kind that makes you feel like a kid again.Ā  I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility given the weather patterns of the last decade.Ā  Just know, if the snow does come, I'll be enjoying a cup of coffee on my couch while watching it snow and then I'll suit up and go to the high tunnel to experience the contemplative stillness that the snow brings to my little corner of the world.Ā  Ā  I get it though....springtime is always so welcome and magical in its own right.Ā  It is my favorite time of the year.Ā  Birdsong, spring rains, the waking up of the trees and flowers, the bumbling bumblebees.Ā  Oh, the sounds, sights and scents are fabulously decadent!Ā  Ā  In the middle of all of this magic, Utah's flower farmers are starting the busiest part of their season.Ā  Spring is an exhilaratingĀ challenge. There is so much that needs to be done pretty much all at the same time. Now is a great time to find your local flower farmer and connect with them.Ā Ā  Click here to use our handy locator map! Ā  Ā  Farmers are currently selling CSA or bouquet subscriptions, advertising for on farm events and tuber sales. It's also a good time to inquire about flower availability forĀ Easter, Mother's Day and graduations.Ā  If you're interested in internships and employment, now is also the time to reach out.Ā  Many farmers happily take volunteers and many hire seasonal help.Ā Ā  Ā  As we move into the business of the spring season, I hope that you all find time to enjoy the magic of it all.Ā  The hope and the promise of springtime always fully delivers! Ā  Thank you for being here and loving locally grown flowers as much as we do!Ā  Warm Regards, Sara Asbridge Publicity Chair Utah Cut Flower Farm Association P.S. Check out the keynote speakers we have lined up for the Utah Flower Conference! We’re thrilled to share that the 2027 conference keynotes will include Briana of Blossom and Branch Farm Ā and Julio of The Flower Hat. Ā Mark your calendars for February 20, 2027- you won’t want to miss this one.

Hi friend, Ā  Are you still harvesting blooms? Or have you left the last few for the pollinators to build their winter stock? It's always bittersweet when the season comes to an end - but we're also looking forward to a bit more rest. Ā  As a board we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Loretta Clayson of Journey Farm for serving as our Vice President over the last 2 and half years. Loretta is a wonderful friend, supportive team mate, and talented farmer. We will miss her wisdom and kindness on the board. As her resignation comes a little shy of our upcoming elections, the board has appointed Mollie Payne to fill the Vice President position until the results of our upcoming election. If you are interested in learning more about the election, please read this forum post and the attached file. Ā  We have some great learning opportunities coming up over the next couple of months. Hi friend, Ā  Creating the Utah Flower Day was one of the very first things we knew we wanted to do when the Utah Cut Flower Farm Association was founded. We couldn't wait to help people find their flower farmers.Ā  We pictured a room full of blooms and flower lovers and farmers making connections. Over the last few years we feel we've accomplished that at our last 3 Utah Flower Day events. As we've thought about the needs of our growing community, we decided the best thing we could do was make the Utah Flower Day more accessible for all of our farmers. Instead of hosting an in-person event in one city this year, we will be providing support for members of the association to celebrate Utah Flower Day in their own communities. We have found an amazing Utah artist, Alma Loveland, who has created a beautiful poster for us. This poster is intended to help educate the general public on just how awesome Utah flowers are.Ā  With key talking points, it's meant to start conversations about why people would purchase local flowers. We have also commissioned an adorable sticker and coloring page to further engage our communities.Ā  The Utah flower day will be on August 16th this year. We will be providing promotional materials for members to use in any creative way they see fit. You could display the poster at your farmers market booths, farm tour,Ā  u picks, or the local Fair.Ā  You could share the sticker with your subscribers or florists. You could create an arrangement and share that on social media to celebrate the day. You could create a flower installation in your city. You could also organize your own in-person event with ot her local flower farms or florists in your area. How to participate in the 2025 Utah Flower DayĀ Ā  Ā  Reach out with any questions, we want to make this the best Utah Flower Day for you! Ā  Sincerely, The UCFFA Team
