  • Sweet Pea Farm & Orchard | Utah Cut Flower Farm Association

My Name is Dayla and I love warm summer nights, Dr. Pepper, dirty hands and obviously growing all the things! I have three children that are all grown and off living their own exciting lives. I run the the farm and our farmstand with the help of my amazing sidekick, Leah. Together we do our best to manage 3 acres of fruits, vegetables and flowers organically (code for: we spend too many hours pulling weeds to talk about). Flowers are easily the most rewarding crops, they are beautiful, they attract pollinators but most importantly they make everyone happy and fill the farm with smiling faces. We obviously have a strong connections to sweet peas, my grandmother sent me a packet of them to plant in my garden every year. She passed away the year we purchased our farm and the namesake was only fitting. Yes we grow a large selection of sweet peas but they are no our only favorite! I love growing dahlias (even though some years do not give us a long enough season), peonies, and snapdragons. Sweet Pea Farm & OrchardDayla UlrichSweet Pea Farm and Orchard was established in 2014, by a first generation farmer, with the hopes of providing the community with healthy delicious food, seasonal flowers and an inviting space to connect with others and enjoy the beauty. Edge to edge, the land is filled with hundreds of varieties of heirloom and specifically chosen hybrid vegetables, herbs and a growing selection of flowers and fruits. Hidden in the back is a rambunctious beehive that has worked hard for years pollinating the fields and greenhouses. We make the best out of our short season in the high dessert by using greenhouses and as many reasonable season extension tools as feasible. Each summer we work hard to create amazing events that provide an opportunity for the community to spend time enjoying the beauty and engaging with the farmers and each other. We grow an increasing number of flower varieties each year and continue to learn what will work in our unique climate. We currently focus most of our energy on summer annuals but have been increasing our area of perennial and spring season flowers. 2021 will be the first spring we dedicate part of our greenhouse space to flower production and we are so excited to make this transition. On Farm Stand, u-pick events < Back Edit My Profile Sweet Pea Farm & Orchard Sweet Pea Farm and Orchard was established in 2014, by a first generation farmer, with the hopes of providing the community with healthy delicious food, seasonal flowers and an inviting space to connect with others and enjoy the beauty. As the owner of Small and Simple Farms, Emily Judson Sinkovic combines her passion for growing beautiful things with improving the human condition. With formal schooling in peacebuilding, and graduate studies in conflict resolution and restorative justice, Emily uses her additional skills as a grower to share knowledge and beauty with incarcerated individuals. The daughter of an avid vegetable farmer, Emily was taught from a young age to care for the earth. She is especially interested in sustainable growing methods, including a no-till approach, cover cropping, and a balanced ecosystem.Small & Simple FarmsEmily Judson SinkovicSmall & Simple Farms (Nephi, Utah) was founded on the idea that “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.” Small & Simple Farms recently partnered with the Utah Department of Corrections to bring more beauty into the lives of the female residents of the Utah State Correctional Facility. With generous support from Erin Benzakein of Floret Flowers, the growers of the Utah Flower Market, and individual sponsors, they have been able to bring fresh flowers, holiday wreaths, and educational opportunities to the incarcerated women. It is such a simple thing to provide flowers for a group of women. But the comments from the prison residents demonstrate the tremendous impact it can have: “I don’t even remember the last time I saw this many colors!” “The smell is so fresh. It’s been 16 years since I smelled a flower.” “Ohhh Jesus, thank you for letting me see these beautiful flowers today.”Nephi Farmers Market < Back Edit My Profile Small & Simple Farms Small & Simple Farms (Nephi, Utah) was founded on the idea that “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.” Small & Simple Farms recently partnered with the Utah Department of Corrections to bring more beauty into the lives of the female residents of the Utah State Correctional Facility.
