I have always loved to grow things. When I was 8 years old, my dad let me have full design rights to a 4′ x 4′ space in his flower garden. He took me to a nursery, and apparently, I spent $80 to fill that plot. My dad didn’t blink an eye, and he said it was the most beautiful place in our yard that year. Fast forward 25 years later when my husband and I purchased 2.5 acres back in our hometown of North Ogden. We had 2 boys under 2 years old, and property with more weeds and overgrown trees than we knew what to do with. But slowly, much like that 4' x 4' space in my dad’s yard, I began to tame ours. We now grow thousands of flowers each year and host many on-farm workshops, even in the off season.North Ogden Flower FarmKellie WebbLike many local flower farmers, we grow flowers that you will not find in stores. As the owner of Small and Simple Farms, Emily Judson Sinkovic combines her passion for growing beautiful things with improving the human condition. With formal schooling in peacebuilding, and graduate studies in conflict resolution and restorative justice, Emily uses her additional skills as a grower to share knowledge and beauty with incarcerated individuals. The daughter of an avid vegetable farmer, Emily was taught from a young age to care for the earth. She is especially interested in sustainable growing methods, including a no-till approach, cover cropping, and a balanced ecosystem.Small & Simple FarmsEmily Judson SinkovicSmall & Simple Farms (Nephi, Utah) was founded on the idea that “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.” Small & Simple Farms recently partnered with the Utah Department of Corrections to bring more beauty into the lives of the female residents of the Utah State Correctional Facility. With generous support from Erin Benzakein of Floret Flowers, the growers of the Utah Flower Market, and individual sponsors, they have been able to bring fresh flowers, holiday wreaths, and educational opportunities to the incarcerated women. It is such a simple thing to provide flowers for a group of women. But the comments from the prison residents demonstrate the tremendous impact it can have: “I don’t even remember the last time I saw this many colors!” “The smell is so fresh. Hi, I'm Mollie, owner of Foothill Farm Flowers. I have always loved growing things - starting from when I was 4 and my dad gave me my own row of peas to take care of for a season. My mother and grandmother both loved growing flowers each season and would let me help as a child. Watching a seed turn into something beautiful never gets old! After studying computer science, being a software developer, and raising my 4 kids, I decided to make my growing hobby a business and started our cut flower farm. I love teaching my kids the value of hard work and the skills of being an entrepreneur. And most of all I love sharing joy with my community through the beauty of the seasonal blooms we grow.Foothill Farm FlowersMollie PayneFoothill Farm is the nickname I gave our home when we moved to Provo in 2018. We were so excited to have almost an acre of land, and all the possibilities that held for our family. After planting 20 fruit trees and creating a veggie garden in the previously unused earth, we began making plans for a flower farm in 2019. We have been growing and selling flowers ever since! With the whole family helping, we are dedicated to sustainable and safe growing practices. We love sharing joy with our community through the beauty of our flowers. One of our favorite things is introducing our customers to the unique and heirloom varieties we grow. Watching our customers' eyes light up when they discover the difference in our fresh locally grown flowers is one of our favorite things.Provo Farmers' Market < Back Edit My Profile Foothill Farm Flowers Foothill Farm is the nickname I gave our home when we moved to Provo in 2018. - Artisanal Blooms | Utah Cut Flower Farm Association
First thing to know about me is one of my biggest passions is flowers. Growing flowers, arranging flowers, and teaching about flowers make me excited. My passion for flowers began when I had the opportunity to attend a study abroad in London. I always knew flowers were beautiful, but when I was in London I was amazed by the charming landscapes full of flowers. After, my study abroad I became a teaching assistant at BYU for Floral Design and started my own floral company. Upon graduating I spent a year working in floral wholesale followed by event planning. I spent many years doing this and the opportunity came up to apply to be the floral design adjunct professor at BYU. In order to apply I needed to have a masters degree. I attended Washington State University and received my degree in Agriculture. While working on my degree I knew I wanted to start a flower farm and bring flowers to the community around me. Artisanal BloomsBrianna WellsAfter spending over 15 years in the floral industry creating beautiful events it was time to learn more. While I still do lots of events I decided having a flower farm would create a beautiful atmosphere for my 3 children. Having them help me grow all of our flowers from seed, plant them, take care of them, and arrange them has brought us so many fun memories that I want to continue to make at our farm. We love having a farm that brings so many people together to enjoy our beautiful secret garden while being outside. < Back Edit My Profile Artisanal Blooms After spending over 15 years in the floral industry creating beautiful events it was time to learn more. - Journey Farm | Utah Cut Flower Farm Association
Growing beautiful specialty and heirloom flowers below the glowing coral cliffs of Kanab is a milestone in a lifetime journey of ranching and farming. I moved to Southern Utah as a two-year-old and have been connected to the land in one way or another ever since. I love flowers and find joy and peace in growing and sharing them. I have always grown flowers, herbs, vegetables, and trees for my own family’s benefit, but in 2018, I perceived a growing need for people to experience nature for their emotional health and wellness. I talked my husband into letting me plant the .25-acre weedy strip beside the long lane to our house into cut flowers. I have since converted 1.5 acres of our 33 acres of hayfields to flowers. There is a quiet wellness that comes from aligning life with the rhythms of nature and the circle of seasons. I have benefited from creating Journey Farm and hope that connection can be felt by visitors and those who purchase or receive the flowers (fruits) of my labors.Journey FarmLoretta ClaysonJourney Farm’s purpose is: Grow flowers to ease the mind, feed the soul, refresh the spirit, and gladden the heart. The sight, smell, and feel of flowers can trigger a pleasant memory or elicit positive feelings. Spending time outdoors is beneficial for wellness but is not always easy to do. Flowers are a convenient way to experience a little nature indoors. We offer wholesale to florists and designers, bulk DIY flowers, bouquet subscriptions, and florals for hospitality businesses and professional offices. We also do workshops, scheduled U-picks, and special on-farm events. Journey Farm continues to evolve/expand our grow list and acreage. We have built high tunnels to extend our ranunculus and dahlia seasons and other structures to facilitate our winter tulip-forcing operation. We use earth/people/animal-friendly methods for safety and sustainability, and no-till practices to build healthier soil. Former 7th grade Language Arts and Spanish teacher turned flower farmer. I started selling flowers to pay for my own seed buying addiction, and it all snowballed from there. My main objective is to help people find delight and wonder in flowers by putting them together in new ways, growing unusual varieties that aren't available at traditional florists, and educating the public through social media and through teaching community courses at Snow College.Dream Acre Flower FarmTorrie MeidellOur first three years of farming, we farmed exclusively on our half-acre property, but after seeing our business continually grow each year, my husband and I went full time with our flower farm in 2023 and rented more land to grow on. We grow a wide variety of focal flowers, fillers, and foliage in order to offer deluxe bouquet subscriptions and wholesale to florists and to the public from April to September. My favorite flowers are snapdragons, and we currently grow around 25-30 varieties of snaps each year, on top of the more expected blooms (sunflowers, lisis, dahlias, zinnias, tulips, ranunculus) as well as more unexpected stems. < Back Edit My Profile Dream Acre Flower Farm Our first three years of farming, we farmed exclusively on our half-acre property, but after seeing our business continually grow each year, my husband and I went full time with our flower farm in 2023 and rented more land to grow on. Emily hasn't looked back since. This garden-style design influences what she plants in her micro flower farm and how she brings her flowers together in an arrangement. She is inspired by the works of Ariella Chezar, Milli Proust, Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht, and Sarah Raven, all who also embrace the natural form and movement of the flowers they work with. Emily has been designing with her homegrown flowers for 3 years. Much of her product she grows herself, but she is happy to source material from her fellow local flower farmers and wholesaler. Her favorite flower is ranunculus, and her favorite color to design with is yellow! Check out her photo gallery on her website to see more of her designs. Learn More I'm a paragraph.
