- Season Extension of Tulips using Pre-cooled Bulbs and a High Tunnel | UCFFA
< Back Season Extension of Tulips using Pre-cooled Bulbs and a High Tunnel Julie Hall For this project I will order 600 tulips, 200 each of 3 types of pre-cooled tulips including early and mid blooming varieties. Tulips will be planted in soil in crates and kept at 40 degrees in my garage to initiate root development. Once roots are established they will be moved to a space where they can continue to chill and will be systematically moved into the high tunnel over a 4 week period. I will move 50 of each variety into the high tunnel each week and label each crate with a date. I will measure their bloom time, daily temperature, height, # of marketable stems, and number of stems sold. I will also track my labor and costs associated with growing the tulips to determine profitability. Download Report Blooming Zoom Previous Next
- Comparing harvested white chantilly snapdragons planted in the fall, early spring, and late spring, | UCFFA
< Back Comparing harvested white chantilly snapdragons planted in the fall, early spring, and late spring, Lori Partridge and Kaitlyn Reich We obtained a soil sample from each spot that we planted. According to the recommendations from the soil sample results, we amended the soil. We will plant 175 white Chantilly snapdragons in the fall (October 2025), early spring (2026), and late spring (2026). Flowers planted in the fall will be covered with a triple layer of frost cloth when temperatures fall below 20 degrees. We will randomize each plot so each plot has all 3 subjects in them, with a total of 4 plots. We will measure and compare harvested stem and stem lengths. We will plant them on our property in Bountiful. All plugs grown in different seasons will be watered, pinched, and harvested using the same methods. We will report our findings at the Bloom Zoom and a written report on October 5, 2026. Download Report Blooming Zoom Previous Next

My Name is Dayla and I love warm summer nights, Dr. Pepper, dirty hands and obviously growing all the things! I have three children that are all grown and off living their own exciting lives. I run the the farm and our farmstand with the help of my amazing sidekick, Leah. Together we do our best to manage 3 acres of fruits, vegetables and flowers organically (code for: we spend too many hours pulling weeds to talk about). Flowers are easily the most rewarding crops, they are beautiful, they attract pollinators but most importantly they make everyone happy and fill the farm with smiling faces. We obviously have a strong connections to sweet peas, my grandmother sent me a packet of them to plant in my garden every year. She passed away the year we purchased our farm and the namesake was only fitting. Yes we grow a large selection of sweet peas but they are no our only favorite! I love growing dahlias (even though some years do not give us a long enough season), peonies, and snapdragons. Sweet Pea Farm & OrchardDayla UlrichSweet Pea Farm and Orchard was established in 2014, by a first generation farmer, with the hopes of providing the community with healthy delicious food, seasonal flowers and an inviting space to connect with others and enjoy the beauty. Edge to edge, the land is filled with hundreds of varieties of heirloom and specifically chosen hybrid vegetables, herbs and a growing selection of flowers and fruits. Hidden in the back is a rambunctious beehive that has worked hard for years pollinating the fields and greenhouses. We make the best out of our short season in the high dessert by using greenhouses and as many reasonable season extension tools as feasible. Each summer we work hard to create amazing events that provide an opportunity for the community to spend time enjoying the beauty and engaging with the farmers and each other. We grow an increasing number of flower varieties each year and continue to learn what will work in our unique climate. We currently focus most of our energy on summer annuals but have been increasing our area of perennial and spring season flowers. 2021 will be the first spring we dedicate part of our greenhouse space to flower production and we are so excited to make this transition. On Farm Stand, u-pick events < Back Edit My Profile Sweet Pea Farm & Orchard Sweet Pea Farm and Orchard was established in 2014, by a first generation farmer, with the hopes of providing the community with healthy delicious food, seasonal flowers and an inviting space to connect with others and enjoy the beauty. Welcome to our flower farm! My name is Paige Goodson, and together with my husband Michael, we've started out on a little adventure. Michael is a 4th generation agricultural farmer, and I am an educator. We live on our farm property that has about 200 adjoining acres. I have a passion for flowers and the joy they spark in all who give and receive them. In recent years, I've taken a slice of our acreage to grow, experiment, meditate, and find calm in the garden. From seed to harvest, flowers represent such a beautiful cycle.Country Sunshine Flower FarmPaige GoodsonIt is our desire to have others share in that experience as well. When I was little, I wanted a cement yard and nothing to do with gardening. My parents were both avid gardeners: my father with vegetables and my mother with flowers. I would begrudgingly assist when asked to do so. But as I've grown older, (hopefully) wiser, and gained some life-experience, the soil, the process, the success and the failures of gardening have provided a sanctuary that gives me peace. The flowers are the product, but the journey is what is important. It's the journey of self-discovery, persistence, and learned gratitude for what we cannot control. While we are blessed with many acres to grow our crops; it doesn't take but a few square feet to experience the journey. Our flower farm sets out to help the backyard gardener experience the joy of growing, harvesting, and sharing flowers. < Back Edit My Profile Country Sunshine Flower Farm It is our desire to have others share in that experience as well. First thing to know about me is one of my biggest passions is flowers. Growing flowers, arranging flowers, and teaching about flowers make me excited. My passion for flowers began when I had the opportunity to attend a study abroad in London. I always knew flowers were beautiful, but when I was in London I was amazed by the charming landscapes full of flowers. After, my study abroad I became a teaching assistant at BYU for Floral Design and started my own floral company. Upon graduating I spent a year working in floral wholesale followed by event planning. I spent many years doing this and the opportunity came up to apply to be the floral design adjunct professor at BYU. In order to apply I needed to have a masters degree. I attended Washington State University and received my degree in Agriculture. While working on my degree I knew I wanted to start a flower farm and bring flowers to the community around me. Artisanal BloomsBrianna WellsAfter spending over 15 years in the floral industry creating beautiful events it was time to learn more. While I still do lots of events I decided having a flower farm would create a beautiful atmosphere for my 3 children. Having them help me grow all of our flowers from seed, plant them, take care of them, and arrange them has brought us so many fun memories that I want to continue to make at our farm. We love having a farm that brings so many people together to enjoy our beautiful secret garden while being outside. < Back Edit My Profile Artisanal Blooms After spending over 15 years in the floral industry creating beautiful events it was time to learn more.
