I am a farm girl through and through. I was born and raised on a dairy farm in North Dakota, but we didn't just milk cows, we also raised beef cattle and all of the hay and grain needed to support both of the herds. Spring was a busy time on the farm between calving, planting the fields, first cutting of the alfalfa and planting the gardens. I say gardens because my mom planted one, my grandmother (who also lived on the the farm) planted one and my town grandpa also planted a large garden at the farm. But then there was the flowers. The hedge row of peonies, the driveway lined with lilacs, and the farmyard dotted with flower beds full of perennials, just waiting on the annuals to be planted. It was a glorious place to grow up and a wonderful way to be raised. This is where my love of flowers was born, beside my mother and my grandmother, with our hands in the dirt and sweat on our brows.Willow Creek Flower and HerbSara AsbridgeIn 2017, my daughter had the opportunity to travel to France on a school trip. We were looking for creative ways to fund-raise and decided to grow and sell fresh cut flower bouquets. We already grew a yard full of perennials and a large garden. So she and I planted a large patch of our garden into flowers for cutting. The community was supportive of our endeavor that season and I also greatly enjoyed it. The cut flower growing area of our property has steadily expanded since then and I am continually adding new and interesting flowers to my offerings.Utah Flower Market, a local flower collective that sells wholesale and retail on Wednesdays at Grove Station in Pleasant Grove < Back Edit My Profile Willow Creek Flower and Herb In 2017, my daughter had the opportunity to travel to France on a school trip. - Cherry Petals Flower Farm | Utah Cut Flower Farm Association
Cherry Petals is run by Britin Van Brocklin, she received her masters degree in accounting and has been working in accounting for almost a decade. Britin needed a creative outlet and a way to help teach her children the importance of hard work and the importance of getting outside everyday. She had dreamed of growing and selling flowers for a few years and finally after hours and hours of research Britin bought her first seeds in January 2017. Since then the flower farm has changed and improved every year and although farming isn't easy it is very rewarding.Cherry Petals Flower FarmBritin Van BrocklinCherry Petals Flower Farm is an urban farm located in Kaysville, UT. The first year we grew at our grandparents cherry orchard (hence the name Cherry Petals) and sold at the Salt Lake Farmers market. We then moved to a new house with a bigger lot and have been able to grow and sell locally for the past six seasons. We grow our flowers organically and focus peonies, roses and other long lasting cut flowers. We love having cut flowers in our home and love being able to provide others with fresh local flowers. We also love being able to share our surplus blooms with our neighbors and families. Flowers really do help people feel better and we love being able to spread some joy with our flowers. < Back Edit My Profile Cherry Petals Flower Farm Cherry Petals Flower Farm is an urban farm located in Kaysville, UT. Hi! I’m Chelsea, owner of Sunnyside Urban Farm. I am the grower and harvester of all the beautiful flowers we sell. I am one of the creative visions behind this farming journey, and envision a small orchard, berry patch and vineyard down the road. Gratefully, I am lovingly supported by my amazing farmhand-husband. Together, we raise 6 busy children that keep us on our toes. Along with growing flowers, I teach yoga, host small scale events on my farm and love to adventure! Sunnyside Urban Farm and CutflowersChelsea BeutlerI started Sunnyside Urban Farm in 2020. At first, I did local Upick events as a test market — and it was so well received! Eventually, signed on with the Utah Flower Market to grow wholesale flowers for event florists and have been growing in more ways than one ever since. Our farm is always changing, but our dedication to growing top-quality flowers remains the key to our garden. Growing up, I didn't have the proverbial green thumb. I would flip through seed catalogs and stare longingly at houses with lovely yards, all while yearning to grow a beautiful garden of my own. I knew it was possible to do here in our arid climate as I have watched my dad and grandfather grow incredible gardens year after year. One day, several years ago, I decided to figure it out so that I could get my hands dirty and feed my passion for flowers. In 2019, this dreamer made the choice to plant a large plot of sunflowers on some of our family's land the following spring. I could never have imagined the impact those flowers made on me and the friendships that would blossom from that venture. Now, a few years down the road, I have moved the "farm" to a much smaller area on a portion of my half acre of red dirt near Zion. I am forever a student of the flowers as I learn which flourish the best in our unique growing conditions. They take a special kind of care and love to grow in the desert, and I am grateful to be here for the journey and for the joy these flowers bring not only to me, but to all who receive them.Blue Sky BloomsKimberlee HendersonUnder the blue skies and warm sunshine of the Southern Utah desert near Zion National Park, growing beautifully in the sandy red dirt, an ephemeral oasis of seasonal flowers bloom. As the owner of Small and Simple Farms, Emily Judson Sinkovic combines her passion for growing beautiful things with improving the human condition. With formal schooling in peacebuilding, and graduate studies in conflict resolution and restorative justice, Emily uses her additional skills as a grower to share knowledge and beauty with incarcerated individuals. The daughter of an avid vegetable farmer, Emily was taught from a young age to care for the earth. She is especially interested in sustainable growing methods, including a no-till approach, cover cropping, and a balanced ecosystem.Small & Simple FarmsEmily Judson SinkovicSmall & Simple Farms (Nephi, Utah) was founded on the idea that “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.” Small & Simple Farms recently partnered with the Utah Department of Corrections to bring more beauty into the lives of the female residents of the Utah State Correctional Facility. With generous support from Erin Benzakein of Floret Flowers, the growers of the Utah Flower Market, and individual sponsors, they have been able to bring fresh flowers, holiday wreaths, and educational opportunities to the incarcerated women. It is such a simple thing to provide flowers for a group of women. But the comments from the prison residents demonstrate the tremendous impact it can have: “I don’t even remember the last time I saw this many colors!” “The smell is so fresh. It’s been 16 years since I smelled a flower.” “Ohhh Jesus, thank you for letting me see these beautiful flowers today.”Nephi Farmers Market < Back Edit My Profile Small & Simple Farms Small & Simple Farms (Nephi, Utah) was founded on the idea that “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.” Small & Simple Farms recently partnered with the Utah Department of Corrections to bring more beauty into the lives of the female residents of the Utah State Correctional Facility. - Wild Willow Gardens | Utah Cut Flower Farm Association
How do you know if you're supposed to be a farmer? Carlyn and Brandon both grew up with agricultural families. It was normal to spend summers picking apples and making forts. Somewhere along the way too many people said that farming wasn't viable. 'Don't do this.' they recommended. After starting a family and careers, farming called again and wouldn't leave them alone. More than anything, that idea wanted to be. At first they borrowed a neighbor's backyard and turned it into a garden. After several years they established themselves in Springville on a permanent space. They love the feeling of being connected to the land and watching it produce abundantly. They enjoy bringing that feeling to other people. They believe this work can be sustainable, lift and inspire the human heart, and heal the soil.Wild Willow GardensCarlyn ThompsonThe farm began its career as a cow pasture. For decades, this place was only good for raising cattle. Then in the mid 1990's a family bought the property with only one scraggly tree on the entire farm. Ironically, it fell over shortly thereafter. For the next 25 years the farm slowly transformed into a beautiful space with ponds, orchards, gardens, native trees, and eventually even a place for a few cows :) Now the farm is transforming again. By embracing natural processes and a new focus on regenerative agriculture, the farm is beginning to produce more abundantly than ever. It will be a thriving space that not only provides the finest blooms, but also inspires those who find it. < Back Edit My Profile Wild Willow Gardens The farm began its career as a cow pasture.
